The same core platform is included in every plan. Plans differ by monthly request volume and support level.

LLM provider usage costs (OpenAI, Anthropic and others) are billed directly by your provider through BYOK. Privian only charges for the gateway and security layer.

How pricing works

What determines the cost of AI privacy infrastructure?

The core gateway, PII masking and prompt security are included on every plan. What actually changes the bill is usage, configuration and how far along you are toward enterprise deployment.

  • Usage / request volume

Plans are capped by monthly requests through the gateway. Moving from Minimum to Pro to Founding 100 mainly changes how many requests you can send, not which features you get.

  • Provider configuration (BYOK)

Privian is bring-your-own-key: you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or other provider account. Provider token usage is billed by the provider directly, on your account, separate from your Privian plan.

  • Plan tier and support level

Support level scales with tier — email support on Minimum, priority support from Pro upward. See the plan comparison for the exact breakdown of what each tier includes.

  • Enterprise requirements

Custom requirements — security review, procurement, dedicated onboarding — move a team to Enterprise, which is scoped individually rather than priced as a fixed self-serve tier.

See how the gateway itself works on the LLM Gateway page, and what masking covers on the PII Masking page.

Fit

Who each plan is for

  • Minimum

    Early AI product teams

Solo builders and small AI projects that need PII masking and prompt security in place from day one, without committing to a larger contract.

  • Pro / Founding 100

    Growing AI SaaS teams

Production workloads and growing teams that need higher request volume and priority support, with Founding 100 adding grandfathered pricing for early supporters during beta.

  • Enterprise

    Teams preparing for enterprise customers

Organizations with custom requirements — security review, procurement, roadmap discussions and priority onboarding — that need a scoped, individually negotiated setup.

Alternatives

Direct integration, self-hosting or a managed gateway

These are the operational tradeoffs between the common approaches teams consider — not a cost comparison.

  • Direct provider integration

Calling OpenAI, Anthropic or another provider directly is the fastest way to prototype. It means your team owns masking, prompt security and provider-switching logic yourself, with no shared privacy layer in front of the model.

  • Self-hosted gateway

Running your own gateway in your infrastructure gives full control over the request path, but your team is responsible for building and maintaining masking, routing and observability, and for keeping the deployment current.

  • Open-source gateway

An open-source gateway gives visibility into the code and avoids vendor lock-in, but typically requires your team to operate it, extend privacy features like masking, and handle updates and support directly.

  • Privacy-focused managed infrastructure

A managed gateway like Privian provides PII masking, prompt security and BYOK provider routing as a maintained service, so your team integrates once instead of building and operating that layer.

FAQ

Choosing a plan

How does Privian pricing work?
Plans are priced by monthly request volume and support level; the same core gateway, PII masking, prompt security and BYOK provider support are included on every plan. Provider token usage (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) is billed by your provider directly, since Privian is bring-your-own-key.
Is Privian suitable for startups?
Yes. The Minimum plan is built for solo builders and small AI projects, and Founding 100 offers one-time early-supporter pricing with grandfathered terms for teams joining during beta.
Can I start before I have enterprise customers?
Yes. Most teams start on Minimum or Pro to secure prompts and mask PII while shipping, then move to Enterprise once they have custom requirements such as procurement review or dedicated onboarding.
Does Privian support multiple LLM providers?
Yes. Privian is provider-agnostic and routes requests to the providers you configure, including OpenAI, Anthropic and others. See the Supported Models page for the current list.
Can I use my own provider keys?
Yes. Privian is BYOK by design. You connect your own provider account and keep direct ownership of provider billing, quotas and data agreements; Privian only charges for the gateway and security layer.
What should I evaluate when comparing LLM gateway costs?
Look at what is actually included at each tier (masking, prompt security, BYOK support), how request volume maps to your real traffic, whether provider costs are billed separately or bundled, and what changes when you need enterprise-grade review and onboarding.

FAQ

Pricing FAQ

What's the difference between the plans?
The same core platform is included in every plan. Plans differ by monthly request volume and support level. Founding 100 adds an early-supporter pricing relationship — grandfathered pricing and priority beta feedback — with access equivalent to Pro.
Why BYOK?
Privian is bring-your-own-key. You connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or other provider account, and Privian routes prompts through its security layer. You keep direct ownership of provider billing, quotas, and data agreements.
Do requests include provider usage costs?
No. Privian charges only for the AI security layer. Provider token usage (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) is billed by your provider directly on your own account.
What happens after beta?
Pricing and plan limits may change as Privian leaves beta. Founding 100 customers keep their pricing — see grandfathered pricing below.
What is Founding 100?
Founding 100 is a one-time early supporter plan for the first 100 customers. It includes Pro-equivalent access (same features, same 250k requests/month cap), priority beta feedback, and grandfathered pricing on future plans. Fair-use limits apply.
What does grandfathered pricing mean?
If general pricing increases after beta, Founding 100 customers continue at their original terms for the equivalent feature set. We will document the exact mapping when general pricing is finalized.
Does Privian store prompts?
No. Privian operates with zero raw prompt retention. Prompts are processed in memory through the security layer and discarded after the request completes. See the Security page for the full data-handling model.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. You can move between plans at any time. Founding 100 access is preserved for customers who joined during the beta program.

Transparency

Built transparently during beta

Privian is evolving in public with implementation-grounded documentation, transparent limitations and privacy-first defaults.

  • BYOK provider model

You bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic or other provider keys. Privian never owns provider billing or quotas.

  • Zero raw prompt retention

Prompts and rehydrated responses are not persisted. Observability is built from counters and latencies.

  • Documented masking types

Supported entity types are listed in the docs so you can verify coverage before integrating.

  • Transparent beta limitations

What's not yet supported is published on the Updates page — no compliance theater.

  • Public architecture and security model

Architecture, data handling and the request lifecycle are documented openly.

  • Privacy-first defaults

Masking is on by default. The model only ever sees the masked prompt.

See our architecture, security and updates pages.
